Because of its sour taste, cranberry fruit is mostly consumed as cranberry juice. But you can also make jelly, cranberry juice cocktails, sauce.

Cranberry is 90% water and 10% is carb and fiber. But they are packed with vitamins and minerals as well.

1. Treating or Preventing Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

Proanthocyanidins, a compound found in cranberries, have natural antibacterial benefits that prevent UTI. 

In 2017 study found that cranberry juice reduces the occurrence of UTIs in mice. 

Researcher thinks that compounds like Proanthocyanidins in cranberries stop Escherichia coli (E. coli) from sticking to the lining of the urinary tract, thereby preventing the spread and growth of bacteria.

That said, Studies found that cranberries may help in preventing the UTI but not effective in treating them. 

Therefore, more studies and strong evidence is required to clearly understand whether cranberry juice can treat the UTI or not.

Also, if you’re on blood-thinning medication or supplements, you should consult the doctor before adding cranberry juice in your diet. As cranberry juice it reactive to blood thinners and can increase the effect of blood-thinning. 

Along with that, people with kidney stones, diabetes should also consult a doctor before consuming cranberry juice or supplements.
